Please remember these rules are put in place so that everyone attending each event can enjoy themselves.  They are not designed to persecute any individual.  If you see anyone breaking the rules please advise a steward or a official immediately and we will deal with it accordingly.

HOLBROOK SPRINGWOOD RIDING CLUB IS AFFILIATED TO BRITISH RIDING CLUBS. ALL SHOWS ARE RUN UNDER BRC RULES ALL COMPETITORS ARE ADVISED TO PURCHASE A COPY OF THE BRC RULE BOOK FOR MORE INFORMATION.

Club rules

1. The event organisers reserve the right to refuse or revoke entry to the show ground or classes without explanation. No one other than club members and day members may ride on the show ground at club shows.

2. The event organisers accept no responsibility for accidents, injury or loss to competitors , spectators, animals or equipment. Admission is granted and entries accepted on these conditions.

3. The Judge’s or Event Organiser’s decision is final in all respects.

4. All competitors MUST wear British Standard hard hats, be suitably attired (including suitable footwear) and the chin strap must be fastened at all times. Body protectors are recommended.

5. No spurs or whips in gymkhana games or handy pony.

6. Riders age as at 1st January 2008. Confirmation may be requested. All persons aged under 16 years are only admitted to the show ground accompanied by an adult who must remain on the show ground with them at all times.

7. The Event Organisers reserve the right to cancel or split any class or substitute judges without explanation.

8. Objections/complaints must be made in writing to the Secretary’s caravan within 30 minutes of the incident and accompanied by a deposit of £20, which is returned if the objection is sustained. No verbal objections will be considered.

9. Horses or ponies may be measured or height certificates requested at the Event Organiser’s or Judge’s discretion.

10. No unauthorised person may enter the ring. Only one person to adjust the fences may be permitted in the practise ring.

11. All dogs must be kept on leads and under control at all times and away from the sides of the rings. Dogs are not permitted in the horse walkways and collecting areas.

12. Handler in lead rein classes must be aged 14 years or over. The lead rein must be attached to the nose band and ponies to be in snaffle bridles only.

13. Competitors must exercise their horses/ponies in the practise rings only, no trotting or cantering between rings or in the central walkways.

14. No stallions on the ground except with the prior permission of the organisers.

15. Whips may not exceed 30 inches.

16. Horses must keep to designated horse walkways only and proceed in walk in these.

17. Combination of horse and rider may enter each class once only.

18. In the Working Hunter classes competitors may enter one horse for the showing phase, plain black or brown tendon boots may be worn for jumping only. Spurs may be worn on horses exceeding 15hh only.

19. No spurs in any Ridden Showing class except on horses exceeding 14.2hh.

20. Swearing and anti social behaviour will not be tolerated on the show ground. Anyone found in breach of this rule will be asked to leave the show ground and banned from returning.

21. Any aggressive or excessive use of spurs, whip, tack or any other implement will result in elimination and ejection from the show ground.

22. The name a horse or pony is entered under must not change during a season.

23. At club shows the handler in an In Hand class must be a club member or day member.
